Self start hi speed hi gain low maintaining wind turbine.
Objective: Capture the most energy using the smallest device.
Where we come from and the evolution of the intention.
We first start with Savonius rotor for the following reason:
If we can some way some how have a unidirectional wind then we can have it lie with horizontal axes configuration. For that we can extend as much as we can.
A- >My first approach.

B- > My second approach.
I have achieved the same above result but simpler works.

C- > By then I can have the following configuration as following for vertical Savonius rotor. which produces at least twice (I think) the traditional Savonius. - I calculate toe torque and the RPM.

- Note: the red dots are pin to restrict where the flaps can move.
D-> More improve:
Next I broke the blades into smaller pieces as
![]()
Of course I also have some pins to restrict the "flap blade" for each should close when the wind blow to it and open to reduce the drag.
E- >Using the camera to see how the drag force affect on those flap. This causing me to make each of those flaps into the shape of an airfoil.
To my surprise even if those flaps are free flowing the position of the restrict pins - how fare it is form the center of the flap can increase and decrease the outcome.
F-> Finally I have come out to this design. - Picture are in. It is the combination of using drag for start and when the wind speed are slow; When the wind pick up it will act as the combination as of Darrieus Rotor.
G -> My experiment on E- F above also allow me using multiple layers of blade as if I can squeeze many, many Darrieus Rotors into one single device.
